Hundreds of people are very badly injured or worse every year while working on or around forklifts, pallet trucks and other materials handling equipment in the UK. ‘By understanding the risks and identifying the ways to eliminate them, we can to reduce these numbers’. That is the goal set by the Fork Lift Truck Safety Conference 2013. The conference, held on the 25th of September, will encourage forklift users and materials handling equipment operators to take a better approach to health and safety to improve the UK’s current accident record. This important subject will be covered from various perspectives; however the conference will also cover a number of other safety issues associated with materials handling equipment. Any company that uses pallet trucks, manual or electric, stackers or other materials handling equipment has a duty to ensure that the equipment is in a safe and serviceable condition. LOLER/PUWER Thorough Examinations and a regular service plan are essential and simple things such as this go a long way when Health and Safety is concerned, the Fork Lift Truck Safety Conference looks to cover these topics in depth. The Conference will be held at Warwick University and will start at 9:30 and finish by 16:00.
